Relax! Whether you’re travelling from Vancouver or Seattle, reaching Parksville is easier than most guests expect. With short ferry crossings and scenic island drives, the journey itself becomes part of the holiday experience!
From Vancouver
Two Simple BC Ferries Routes to Reach Seastar
1. Horseshoe Bay → Departure Bay (Recommended Route)
This is the most convenient and commonly used route. Travel by BC Ferries from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to Departure Bay in Nanaimo, with a sailing time of approximately 1 hour 35 minutes. From Nanaimo, it’s an easy 30–35 minute drive north to Parksville on well-maintained island highways.
2. Tsawwassen → Duke Point (Alternative Route)
Guests may also travel by BC Ferries from Tsawwassen Terminal to Duke Point in Nanaimo. This ferry crossing takes approximately 2 hours, followed by a 45-minute drive to Parksville. While the total travel time is slightly longer, the route remains straightforward and is a popular alternative depending on ferry availability.
From SEATTLE
Two Simple BC Ferries Routes to Reach PARKSVILLE
1. Port Angeles → Victoria (Coho Ferry)
Drive from Seattle to Port Angeles, Washington, then board the M.V. Coho Ferry for a scenic 90-minute crossing to Victoria, BC. The Coho carries vehicles and passengers, so you stay with your car the whole way. From Victoria, continue north by car to Parksville (about 2.5 hours), enjoying island views along the way.
2. Seattle → Tsawwassen → Nanaimo (BC Ferries)
Alternatively, you can drive north from Seattle, cross the border at Blaine, and continue to the Tsawwassen BC Ferries terminal (typically 2.5–3 hours, border wait times can vary). From Tsawwassen, take a BC Ferries sailing to Nanaimo for about 2 hours, followed by a short 30–45 minute drive to Parksville.
Summer ferry sailings sell out early. Book your ferry travel well in advance to avoid disappointment!
